I am referring to display drivers like source drivers and gate drivers for lcd panels (im not referring to gpus). Do most manufacturers of lcd panels design their own display chips or do most of them just slap on a chip made by another company that designs display drivers?

My lcd tv is less than 6 weeks old and has developed a fault. To complicate matters the tv does not a brand name and it has been manufactured using all recycled components. It came with a months warranty which has subsequently elapsed. The fault is a black line which is about 7,8mm wide which goes horizontally across the whole screen. The fault is intermittent and the line generally dissapears after the tele has been on for around 20 minutes but unfortunately the line(fault) always comes back. Just wondering how much it will cost to repair? Can anyone please advice?
(Note: I run Windows Vista Home Premium)
After the time I set for it, 10 minutes, my screen will not power down. I have the screensaver set to 5 minutes, and screen shutoff at 10 minutes. The screensaver pops up but even after 3 hours the screen still hasn’t powered down. I reset the power settings on all 3 power selections, and then only changed the sleep and screen shut off times, and it still does not shut off after 10 minutes. I have double checked my options and everything. I am paranoided about my screen because it gets hot, and have had a problem before where the picture does not display but the backlight turns on. I had to send the screen back to the Acer manufacturing plant and they sent me a brand new screen for free, but it took 3 weeks. I am still under warranty for the next 2 years, but I don’t want it to break again. So I want it to shut off so it doesn’t over heat. (My screen gets extremely warm.)
Any ideas? How can I get the sreen to shut off.

Why would I return my screen over a screen saver problem?
My tv is a 20″ Sanyo LCD built in 2006 - I use an antenna which says HDTV on the box…… now I do not if I should purchase a converter box becuase I heard tvs that are manufactured after 2004 don’t need one?

So I was interested in buying a new Television. Walmart has a 32 inch Vizio flat panel TV for just over $500. The majority of the reviews on Walmarts website are good, although there are a few bad ones. Has anyone had an experience, be it good or bad with this brand of television? I was thinking I may be better off paying an extra $150 for the 32 inch Samsung.
Oh yeah there was also a Vizio 40 or 42 inch for just under $750 which I was also considering. Anyone aware of how good the manufactures warranty is on these TVs? Thanks in advance!
Recently my Sony Cybershot DSC-S40 digital camera’s screen just went all white for no particular reason. It is around 3 years old and I have never dropped it as I always have taken proper care of it.
Anyway recently I went out one evening and came home to upload the photos I had taken, but when I turned the camera on the LCD screen was white, it didn’t matter whether i put it on play, shoot or video mode the entire LCD screen didn’t change from white.
I turned the camera on and off several times but nothing changed. However I noticed I could take photos but I had to look through the little viewer like the cameras in the old days.
It also came to my attention that even though the camera can still do its basic function, i.e take pictures it couldn’t change other setting such as the colour, sepia or black and white options or I wouldn’t know how much to zoom in.
Long story short I did a bit of research on the net to see if there was a solution to the problem and there is save your money and time from going to get repairs or replacing the camera. Instead try a quick and free POSSIBLE solution, next to the LCD screen there is a whole bunch of buttons. Turn the camera on and press your hand down so that you press down on all buttons at once and the screen should immediately go back to normal. When I tried this it was such a huge relief to see it working.The only reason why I am posting this suggestion is because through looking at Yahoo Answers I found a whole heap of people with the exact same problem who were all recommended the same answer ‘TAKE IT FOR REPAIRS OR GET A BRAND NEW ONE’. I’m guessing this could be a manufacturing glitch so do your homework before spending big bucks on repairs or replacements.
Egyptian Viper, I really don’t know what technical explanation there is to justify the white screen. However I am assuming the camera gets confused or something. Whatever it is, it is not normal but thankfully there is a quick and easy solution.
Like I mentioned before certain products are manufactured with certain faults, these may not become apparent until a while later, so i am guessing this is something similar.
I would like to be able to see my work on a bigger scale. I would like to know what equipment or cables I may need. There is a USB port on the back of my television, it is used for updates the manufacture may have for the LCD TV. Please my I get some suggestions, or just a simple it is not possible will suffice. But if it is possible, i would like a equipment checklist as well as some instructions. I have an Olevia 32 inch LCD Tv.

Whats the risk of playing video games on a lcd or plamsa tv regularly, 6-8hrs daily. I was thinking to by a new tv but heard a rumour that plasmas can only be played for an hour on and lcd tvs have a slow reaction time with video games(i believe it’s called response rate/refresh rate). Would either or be specifically worse for online lag?
If i were to put the settings on above average(such as ‘vivid’) and play 6-8hrs daily on a 50″ plasma screen which was manufactured in 2007+ would i be subdued to burn-in? Do LCD’s Burn in at all?
On a side question, can i play ANY video game system on a plasma/lcd tv for a prolonged period of time? ex Xbox 360, PS2, N64
